Midnight in Paris

Posted by Jonay On January - 30 - 2012ADD COMMENTS

I  should stop   traveling for a while and instead  focus on my new songs! I tried to combine both but that approach hasn’t been so successful, to many good distractions along the way :) What to do??!

Anyway, this year I celebrated new year in Paris. The city and atmosphere was magical! And now I understand why it is called the “The City of Lights”   And seriously, the cakes and sweets over there are amazing, found me some new love called macarons. Love at  first bite, no joke! I’m glad I hit the gym around 150 days during 2011 (yes I keep a training journal), otherwise I wouldn’t probably enjoy it the way I did :) You didn’t only eat dessert over there you might ask? Well, you are totally right I didn’t. I managed to check out the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Louvre, Notre Dame, Champs-Élysée and Arch of Triumph. The usual tourist attractions. Totally worth checking them out !  I’m not only creative my words and music, I think I’m pretty cool behind the camera as well. At least I think I’m :) Here are some photos from Paris to demonstrate my skills.
Next stop? Helsinki this weekend, Madrid in May and I’ll  try to visit Amsterdam in Mars.

—————————

So what’s new on the music side?
I have two new songs almost ready, just waiting for the final touch. But I’m still not sure if I’ll release those. Feels like something is missing… In the meantime I’m working on some new beats, I have couple of ideas I want to fulfill. Let’s see in the near future where it ends up.
Lately I have also received some  interesting offers for my music, regarding tv, commercials and such. But as you know I believe in creative common and I’m not member of  any collective rights society. Therefore I haven’t been able to accept the terms.

I hope 2012 has started in a good way for you!

See you around!

Punta Cana, The Dominican Republic

Posted by Jonay On October - 30 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Couple of photos from my trip to the Dominican Republic and Punta “Paradise” Cana from September. It was one of the most relaxing vacations ever!

Hmm
Where to start?  So many impressions. Just came back from my trip to Barcelona, spent 4 crazy, energetic and amazing days with couple of friends. (Lot of new inspiration for my music!)  One of my best friends is  living there so we  had the best guide as well! He is working as a Bartender at Hotel W, which is really not a disadvantage ! My first reaction when I arrived back to Stockholm was, damn I need to get an apartment over there!  To be continued!
The trip didn’t have any culture perspective, yeah what a shame I know… (I save that for some other time), the focus was more on the beach, ocean, Spanish food and drinks, people, chilling, lounging, night clubs and resting! And there were plenty of everything :D

One nice surprise was that I  actually could communicate in spanish. Surprise surprise, wish my high school teacher in Spanish could read this! When conversation reached a dead-end then english was my last resort, and sometimes I cheated by using  my android spanish app. Noone is perfect :P   When my spanish, their english or my app failed  my taxi ride ended up 30 min away from my actual destination. But that’s another story though :)
I also then realized that  sitting at the backseat of a taxi, window down with the cool breeze against your face, with the heat,  ligths, spanish all over the streets,  and just relaxing while you have no idea where you are for the moment, is a nice feeling! As longest as you arrive, at some point, to your final destination. Yeah I know it sounds weird , but it is one of those feelings that can’t be put into words. Taxi ride in a foreign country :D Gotta love it

As I mentioned, we had a nice club tour going on. Shoko, CDLC and Sutton were the clubs we explored. My favorite? On a second though, it was definitely Sutton.  Hot interior, beautiful and laid back people, great air conditioner :D and nice music!  If you visit Barcelona make sure to visit Sutton.  One other club that I didn’t get the chance to visit was Eclipse that is located at the top of Hotel W.  It was my last night and lack o energy was the main reason :)

Other tips for you,  try the tapas at La Bombeta A local place with great taste. Or the burger at Zahara Cocktail Club the crazy bar/restaurant Can Paixano (La Xampanyeria) or the funny but tasty dessert named broiled baby strawberries with pepper at Agua

The great thing about Barcelona is that there is no such thing as “it’s to late”   there is no no need to rush anywhere! To have a meal at 1 am and know that the night is still young has a calm affect on you..

Until next trip,  I think I  should focus to finish some of my new tracks! :D

Catch ya later!

P.s if you travel  a lot make sure to check out the app TripIt! it’s a great travel organizer!

Lyrics: Skydiving

Posted by Jonay On May - 22 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Artist: Jonay Ft Jasmine Kara
Song:Skydiving
Year:2009

Verse1
Only six o’clock in the morning and my heartbeat is out of control
Ten minutes until boarding feels like I’m about to explode
Time for the ride up, tension starting to swirl
I can’t believe I’m gonna free fall from top of the world
Senses peaked, with a crazy anticipation
Feeling like this, tell me how the hell can I be patient
Jumpsuit, rig, google , helmet all in place
double checking just in case
I’m elated baby, freedom one green light away , and I just can’t wait

Chorus
Every time you wanna feel freedom in your life, just go, skydiving baby, go skydiving, yeah

Verse2
Ready-Set-Go
Spread my wings, time to fly
One step out, all it takes for me to touch the sky
So amazing, so liberating
12000 feet, AGL, so breathtaking
Belly down, boxman now
4 minutes of pleasure, without, any spark of distraction around
State of mind euphoria, wish it could last forever
from this day on, nothing can stop us from getting back together

Chorus
Every time you wanna feel freedom in life your, just go, skydiving baby, go skydiving, yeah
Break:
I love the sky baby

Outro
Big shoutout to dropzone, thanks for sharing
Every time you wanna feel freedom in life, just go, skydiving baby, go skydiving, yeah

Weekend trip to Prague

Posted by Jonay On March - 23 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

When I booked the weekend trip to Prague I had some expectations. But I can tell you without exaggerating that, the actual experience of Prague was way above my expectations! :)

Here is a short summary of my trip.
Stockholm
It all started with me and my friend almost missing the flight. For some reason, the day before, I thought it was a good idea to book a taxi 1:15 min before the flight. From Stockholm to Arlanda Airport is almost 40 km. It was Friday and during rush hour and on top of that it was snowing heavily! What an anti-climax, no Prague, instead stuck in Traffic! :) But thanks to our amazing taxi driver, or should I say crazy taxi driver that drove like a renegade, we managed to reach the desk 5 min before closing…
Ironically, once we were on the plane, it was delayed by 35 min because of the snow.. :D

Prague
We arrived to Prague around 19:20 and hopped into  the already waiting taxi (booked through the hotel) that would take us straight to our hotel. I’d heard so many stories about taxi scams, that this was the only option. The hotel we stayed in was called Melantrich . Before I travel I always check tripadvisor.com to make sure the hotel is nice. Since I wanted a hotel close to everything Melantrich was our choice. A three star hotel without any flashy things, but  the location was perfect! right in the Old Town Square! close to restaurants, pubs, clubs historical buildings, ATM’s etc.  I highly recommend that hotel! I never managed to wake up for breakfast so I can’t tell you how it was but everything else was perfect! :)

Club Tour
These are some of the  clubs that we visited during our stay.We also visited other lounge, pubs, bars and clubs but I don’t really remember the names :)
Duplex
Mecca
Zlaty Strom

Karlovny Lazne
Club Lavka

Of course I also managed to explore the cultural side of Prague to some extent.  I also had one of the best cake experiences ever!
One of the best things with Prague is the variety of people. During our stay we talked to  people from all over the world.  New York, Beirut, Switzerland, Russia, France, Italy, Spain and of course Czechs  that were really friendly!

So if you want the best of everything you should visit Prague!

Norway trip and lessons learned

Posted by Jonay On December - 28 - 20102 COMMENTS

Couple of days ago I was in Norway and tried out skiing again. It was around -23 °C in Oslo when I landed, so it was a little chilly! The last time I tried skiing was like 15 years ago. So you can do the math, I overturned a couple of times and managed to hurt my shoulder :D – two weeks without any type of exercise for me. What I learned? Make sure you know how to stop and make a turn before you try this. Thinking you know is not the same as actually knowing :) I think I’ll stick to snowboard and plastic sledge from now on.

Now Ima go and ease the pain with some mulled wine :)

Here are few pictures by the way of the amazing Norwegian landscape that I witnessed…

Hope you all had a great Christmas!
Happy new year! See you in 2011!

Why my music is for free…

Posted by Jonay On August - 28 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Pretty often I get the question, why am I giving away my music for free? (for none commercial use) Well here are 2 reasons.
1. Music is my passion and I want to share that passions with as much people as possible. The best way for me is to make it available for free. Since I’m a good position to give it away (see point 2) I decide to do so.

2. The time and effort I put in, I get it back by your support, your promotion and your donations. The moment you decide to share one of my songs with  friends, on your blog, in your videos or on social networks such as twitter and facebook, you contribute to my free music.  The moment you decide to donate because you like my music you contribute to my free music.  When there are sites like Jamendo they contribute to my free music.

I hope this great relation between me and you will stay strong for a very long time. And of course the most important thing  for me is to make  good music so you feel comfortable to do your part :)

Summer update+interview

Posted by Jonay On July - 10 - 20102 COMMENTS

Hello happy people!
I’ve realized that I’m not updating the blog as much as I want, several reasons for that.
1. The World Cup. Yes I’ma soccer freak :)
2. The Sunny weather. If you live in Sweden and the sun is shining you just got to make sure to embrace it.
3.Wordpress. Still haven’t been able to find an really effective way to use it. The update process feels sort of diffuse and not so motivational. So If you have any good tips on any good wordpress update procedures, please share it with me!

Next SundayI’m also off for a two week long vacation. Flying to Turkey! I’ll post some  pics during my vacation and share it with you.

As a last note, check out the interview the german site http://www.campusmaedchen.de/ did with me. If you are not german then google translate is your friend :)

I wish all of you a wonderful summer and that you create plenty of new exciting memories!

cheers,
Jonay
